Fox Sports Mexico reported on the 3rd (Korean time) that the Mexican national soccer team canceled its two-game European tour against Korea and Saudi Arabia scheduled for September and prepared for two consecutive games in the United States. 

The media said through a broadcast program, “The September European tour of the Mexican national team has been canceled. Two matches were planned for Korea and Saudi Arabia, but they will be canceled due to internal circumstances and the match will be played in the United States.” 

Mexico suffered the humiliation of not advancing to the round of 16 for the first time in the 21st century at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Furthermore, Mexico lost 0-1 despite showing overwhelming performance in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup Group B match against Qatar held on the 3rd.

Mexico advanced to the quarterfinals, but lost in the group stage for the first time in Gold Cup history. 

The media also said, “The Mexican Football Federation prepared for a European tour under the leadership of Rodrigo Ares de Parga, the national team manager, but with the arrival of new manager Juan Carlos Rodriguez, he resigned and the tour was also canceled.” 

The Korea Football Association (KFA) also recognized this. In a phone call with Xports News, an official said, “Negotiations have broken down due to internal circumstances on the Mexican side.” 

Korea has confirmed an away match against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium in Wales on September 7th. Initially, KFA, which was looking for one of the North and Central American teams as its opponent for the second game, contacted Mexico, a powerhouse in North and Central America, but it was unintentionally canceled. 

As long as the away evaluation match is played in Europe, KFA can consider Saudi Arabia, which was originally one of Mexico’s European tour partners, or other North and Central American teams.
