Samsung Lions overcome ‘tiger phobia’ with bats on fire.

Samsung opened its 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League home game against the KIA Tigers with a 12-2 victory at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on April 18.

Samsung, which was 2-8 against KIA this season, was never able to get past starter Yoon Young-cheol in the early going, but the bats came alive in the fourth inning.

It started with Koo Ja-rook, who is the league’s top batting average.

In the fourth inning, Koo led off with his seventh solo home run of the season. Jose Pirela, who had been quiet, followed with a cool long ball to score another run.

The fireworks show reached its peak in the fifth inning.

The bats exploded for seven runs to complete the big inning and put an end to Kia’s hopes of a comeback. Pirela, finding his groove, capped the inning with a three-run home run.

With Pirela’s home run, Samsung became the first team to reach the 5,100-homer plateau in 42 seasons, dating back to 1982, its first year as a professional organization.

After driving in four runs the previous day, Koo also recorded a multi-hit game, improving his batting average to 3-for-4.먹튀검증
