Kim Min-jae to Man Utd, ’70 billion’ buyout is no problem…local media says ‘the only variable’
Kim Min-jae’s buyout is not expected to be a major issue. However, it has been suggested that playing time could be an issue.
The British 메이저사이트‘Cut Offside’ reported on the 24th (KST), “Man United are big fans of Kim Min-jae. A transfer is a very real possibility. Kim’s contract includes a release clause of 50 million euros (about 712 million won). It is only activated between July 1 and 15. This price is reasonable enough,” the report said.
“United will hope to move quickly to prevent rivals from triggering the clause. However, it is fair to say that United are the frontrunners in the race to sign Kim Min-jae, but there is no agreement yet.”
United appointed Eric ten Hagh as manager ahead of this season. It hasn’t gotten off to a great start. They lost their opening two English Premier League (EPL) matches. Most notably, a 0-4 loss to Brentford in the second round. After that, some changes were made to the squad. The club spent big money to bring in Casemiro and Anthony.
The center back combination also changed. For the first two games, Harry Maguire and freshman Lissandro paired up. However, Maguire’s performances were criticized at the time, and Rafael Varane eventually won the job. Fortunately, United started to rise after establishing a center back line with Baran and Lissandro.
However, the players replacing them have not exactly inspired confidence. Therefore, Van Gaal is reportedly looking to bring in strong competition for Lissandro and Varane. Phil Jones, who has been labeled a non-factor, is leaving the team after the season. Add to that the uncertain futures of Maguire, Eric Bailly and others, and reinforcements are a must.
One of United’s top targets is Kim Min-jae. Despite being in his first year in Europe last season, Kim shone for Turkkiye. After a year with Fenerbahçe, he is now wearing a Napoli shirt. Kim also showed off his skills in the Italian Serie A. He played as Napoli’s main center back and helped the team win the title.
Naturally, his value skyrocketed. Several teams, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), are keeping tabs on him. Kim’s contract includes a special buyout clause. There is a €50 million release clause that is valid for the first two weeks of July. That’s not a lot of money for a team with deep pockets.
Man Utd are currently leading the race to sign Kim. However, as Cut Offside notes, “Kim will want regular playing time if he moves to United. That’s the only issue. If Lissandro and Varane are playing well, it’s not easy to replace them. However, Kim Min-jae has been playing so well that he might get more chances than expected.”
