After a prolonged slump, 27-year-old Seo Yoseop (DB Insurance) has finally shown signs of rebounding.

Seo carded seven birdies (one bogey) in the first round of the 2023 KPGA Tour’s Bizplay Electronics Open at Yeongam Cosmos in Jeollanam-do on Thursday to finish with a 6-under 66 and sit in a tie for fourth place. He is just one shot off the lead.

Seo Yosub, a dominant force on the Korean Tour, was disappointed with his continued struggles this season.

Seo opened the season with a third-place finish at the DB Insurance Promi Open, but then faded from contention.

He missed the cut in each of his last four starts, including a disqualification at the LX Championship due to a series of OBs. It was a far cry from his career as a five-time KPGA champion.

However, this tournament saw him rise from the bottom.

Despite the unfamiliar layout of Cosmos CC, he kept his composure, avoided the swamp of bunkers that lurked everywhere, and birdied the last five holes in a row to return to the form his fans knew.

After the first round, Seo admitted, “I haven’t been playing my full game lately,” and then reflected on the past, saying, “I kept getting penalized for OBs and penalty areas, so it was hard to reduce my score even if I made a lot of birdies.”

“I was struggling a lot, but my tee shots started to come together and I was able to play with relative ease, especially since the course doesn’t have many OB areas,” he said, adding, “I think it’s important to hit hard off the tee, but I was thinking a lot about rhythm today. As I made back-to-back birdies, I gained confidence and I think I played well as I thought I would.”먹튀검증

Seo is looking to build on his confidence in his future play. He said, “After the first half of the year, I didn’t play well until the last tournament, but I’m going to find it little by little. “There are still a lot of tournaments left in the second half of the year, and I will do my best to focus on playing consistently at the top of the rankings. Hopefully, this week’s tournament will be a turning point.”
