Samsung bullpen specialist Dae-woo Kim will make his third start of the season in 43 days.

Samsung manager Park Jin-man announced on Monday that sidearm Dae-woo Kim will start the 12th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against Doosan at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. He will replace Baek Jeong-hyun, who was designated for assignment due to elbow discomfort.먹튀검증

Dae-woo’s season record is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 37 games without a win, and he took five days off after throwing ⅓ scoreless innings in relief against the Daegu NC on Feb. 2. He is winless in three starts against Doosan this year with a 6.00 ERA.

This is Dae-woo’s third start of the season. It was his first start in 43 days, following four scoreless innings against the Daegu NC on June 7 and four runs in 3⅔ innings against the Daegu SSG on July 27.

Dae-woo Kim, who made his professional debut in 2011, is a longtime bullpen specialist. In 345 career games, he has a 19-12 record with two saves and 23 holds in 305 relief appearances and an 8-14 record with a 7.70 ERA in 40 starts. His last start was on June 17, 2020, against the Jamsil Doosan (6 innings, 2 runs).

“We have a doubleheader tomorrow, so we needed two alternate starters,” Park said on Monday in Jamsil. The starters in the second team were not in full form, so I decided to start Kim Dae-woo, who is stable. He is a pitcher who can run the game,” Park said, adding, “We need to control the pitch count today, and I expect about 80 pitches.”

Samsung suffered a disappointing 1-2 loss in Ulsan against Lotte in extra innings. Starter Won Tae-in’s 6⅔ innings of one-run ball was not enough. Park said, “Won Tae-in showed the best that a starting pitcher can show. It’s a shame that we couldn’t get the win because we couldn’t get help from the bats,” Park said. “Won will start against KT in Daegu on the 14th.”

Regarding the team’s fatigue, Park said, “We had a late pregame today, but as a player, you have to do it, and you have to overcome it. We’ve been through this before,” he said, emphasizing his professionalism.

Samsung’s starting lineup against Doosan’s Choi Seung-yong was Kim Hyun-joon (center field), Kim Sung-yoon (right field), Koo Ja-uk (left field), Kang Min-ho (catcher), Jose Pirela (designated hitter), Oh Jae-il (first base), Ryu Ji-hyuk (third base), Lee Jae-hyun (shortstop), and Kim Ho-jae (second base). Kim Ji-chan was left out of the lineup due to a back injury.
